How to Apply for NREGA Job Card?

To apply for a job card online, use the UMANG portal. Follow these simple steps below.

Step 1: Open UMANG

Go to the UMANG website https://web.umang.gov.in/ or open the UMANG app.

Step 2: Register or Log In

If new, register first, then log in with your mobile number, MPin, or OTP. If you're already registered, log in directly.

Step 3: Find MGNREGA

Use the search box to look up MGNREGA or select it from the Recently Used Services.

Step 4: Apply for Job Card

Choose “Apply For Job Card” from the options.

Step 5: Fill in General Details

Enter details like your father's or husband's name, address, state, block, Panchayat, caste, family head's name, and ration card number. Click “Next”.

Step 6: Enter Applicant Details

Provide your name, gender, age, disability status, mobile number, and Aadhaar card number. Upload a photo of yourself.

Step 7: Submit Application

Click “Apply For Job Card” to finish. You'll get a reference number. Your NREGA job card number will be provided once the card is ready.

Tracking Your Job Card Status

To check the status of your job card application, just follow these steps:

Step 1: Go to Track Status

If you've applied and want to check the status, click on “Track Job Card Status” on MGNREGA service page on the UMANG portal.

Step 2: Enter Reference Number

Put in your reference number and click “Track”.

Step 3: View Status

You'll see your job card status and can check the details.

Eligibility Criteria

The NREGA scheme is for rural areas across all states, run by the central government. To get NREGA benefits, you need to:

  • Be an Indian citizen.
  • Be at least 18 years old when you apply.
  • Belong to a local household (apply through your local Gram Panchayat).
  • Be willing to do unskilled work.

These simple rules help many rural people get jobs if they are adults living locally.

Required Documents

  • Residence Proof: Such as a ration card or electricity bill.
  • Identity Proof for Adults (18–60 years): Aadhaar card or voter ID for each adult in the household.
  • Photos: Two passport-sized photos (optional, but recommended).
